Collaborative events are an essential part of library services, especially on an academic campus. As an information literacy librarian, I have made an effort to integrate the library in as many joint events as I could throughout the semester. The events below have either been hosted and organized by the library or had librarian involvement.

CSI-CVSS Program
The Cedar Valley Science Symposium is a one-day workshop designed to give science and/or math oriented high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to pursue specific areas in contemporary science, engineering, and computer science.
Winter 2014, I took part in the CSI workshop, where students were given a "crime scene," clues, and a set of experiments to determine what happened to the victim. Students were encouraged to use their problem-solving and research skills to complete the workshop.
De-Stress Event
Fall 2013 & 2014, I was part of the committee that initiated the library's first-ever De-Stress Event. During finals week, we created stations for students to "de-stress" between final exams with board games, knitting, origami lessons, puzzles, holiday books, and a graffiti wall.
This event was a great success!

The Great Escape
Winter 2014, I worked in collaboration with the Writing Center to create and host a night against procrastionation.
This very popular event made faculty members available to students the night before final exams, allowing them to get last-minute assistance.
In addition, snacks, events, music, massages, and games were available to give students a place to take a well-earned break as they prepared for the end of the semester.
CAP+ Extended
The College Achievement Program Extended (CAP+) was established for the 2013-14 academic school year to assist 31 first-year American ethnic students in successfully integrating into their new lives in college.
The library took part in this collaborative effort, conducting informal information literacy workshops specifically selected to highlight student needs.
Sessions were comprised of issues such as: information overload, database searching, citations and bibliographies, and getting research into class projects.
In addition to my involvement, I created a LibGuide to support these students with additional resources.
